On Saturday 11 June, a group from Auckland Institute of Studies headed to Eden Park – the home of rugby in New Zealand – to watch the All Blacks vs Wales in the first match of a three match series.

Eden Park Rugby: All Blacks vs Wales
The match started at 7.35pm so after collecting a couple of students from their city apartment, I took them to AIS where we joined most of the rest of the group (a few opted to make their own way to Eden Park).

We departed at 6pm on a warm, fine evening, and caught the train, which was free with our rugby tickets, and arrived at Eden Park in a very short time.

As conditions were perfect, the game was a lively, free-flowing affair and the All Blacks ran out convincing winners 39 – 21.

Our group was lucky to have the non-playing All Blacks sitting behind us, so a couple of the group were able to get selfies with Lima Sopoaga, Israel Dagg and Tawera Kerr-Barlow during the half-time break.

After the match, we returned to AIS by train and I returned the inner city residents to their apartments having had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
