The Goat Island Snorkeling Tour is a full day tour, which has snorkeling at Goat Island as the main feature but also includes Pakiri Beach. Goat Island (Cape Rodney – Okakari Point Marine Reserve is the official title) has been a marine reserve since 1977 and therefore offers a great range of sea life, especially for good snorkelers who have the confidence to head a bit further out to sea. However, beginners can also enjoy their time here as there is still a good variety of fish to be seen in the shallower water nearer the beach and I will stay with you and guide you around. For those who want to keep dry, there is the option of a glass-bottom boat tour ($75 extra charge).

After our snorkel, we have a picnic lunch (bring your picnic lunch) at Goat Island Beach or the picnic area, before finishing our day at Pakiri Beach, which is a spectacular beach with white sand and blue sea. There is often a gentle surf there, so this is a great swimming beach.

On our return journey, we stop at Warkworth for a cheap dinner. There are a few fast food options, but my recommendation is Seafood ‘n Eat It which cooks delicious fish ‘n chips – try their Snapper ‘n Chips.
