Bethells Beach is also known by its Maori name Te Henga. This tour can be done as either a half day or full day trip. The half day tour covers the main areas of the beach itself: the main beach, the caves, and O’Neills Bay (which is just to the north of Bethells Beach). In addition to this, the full day tour gives us the chance to explore some sea caves which lead to a secluded cove, and go on some longer walks, either at the beach or in the Cascades, which is a forest area near Bethells.
If you enjoy swimming at a surf beach, Bethells is a good choice in summer. Bethells Beach is also often used as a setting for TV programs and music videos. In 2015, Taylor Swift used it for her music video Out of the Woods and said it was the most beautiful beach she had been to (see the Bethells Beach blog from 4 February 2016).
