On Thursday 3 December 2015 at 4pm, a group of students (mostly from Je Ju Island, South Korea) and I left Auckland Institute of Studies and caught a train to New Lynn where we walked around LynnMall as I showed them all the various eating options – from the Food Court to all the restaurants.
Night Markets – free to visit but escorted tours can be arranged – $45 per person.

LynnMall and Henderson Night Market
As it was December, the mall and surrounding area was decorated with Christmas decorations and there was a special area with Santa Claus at LynnMall. We took the opportunity to have photos with the Christmas decorations and Santa Claus.
We then walked around New Lynn, exploring all the other restaurants on offer. We finished at the Night Market at New Lynn which is small but very interesting with Kurdish, Ethiopian and Burmese food as three examples.
Next, we caught the train to Henderson where the Night Market is much bigger with probably about 60 different stalls offering a wide range of food – Mexican, Thai, Spanish, Hungarian, French, Malaysian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Brazilian, Polynesian, Indian, Middle Eastern and many more. For sweets, there are ice cream, crepes, cheesecakes and donuts to name a few.
We ate our fill and returned to AIS by train at about 9.30pm.
